I'm not sure what I need
You just know something isn't right
It's okay not to have the words yet
You don't need to know exactly what's wrong, or be able to explain it clearly, to get in touch with us. A lot of people who contact Comcare start exactly where you are — something feels off, things have gotten harder, or someone in your life has noticed you're not quite yourself.
" I didn't know what to say when I called. But the person I spoke to just asked me a few easy questions and helped me figure it out."
Sarah M.

How to reach us
The easiest way to get started is to call our freephone: 0800 537 3464. You can also fill in a short online form — it takes about 5 minutes and you don't need a referral from a doctor to get started with some of our services. A member of our Triage team will read your form and get back to you, usually within a couple of days.
Some services (Peer Support, Jobconnect, Activelinks) allow self-referral — you don't need a GP. Others are accessed via your doctor or a mental health team. If you're not sure, just contact us and we'll help figure it out.

Your first conversation
When someone from Comcare gets in touch, they're not going to put you on the spot. They'll ask some gentle questions about what's going on for you — what's working, what's hard, what you'd like to be different. This is called a Triage conversation, and it's not a test. It's just us getting to know your situation so we can point you in the right direction.
" I was worried they'd think I wasn't bad enough to get help. But it wasn't like that at all."
James K.

What might happen next
Depending on what comes up in your first conversation, you might be connected with a Support Worker who meets with you regularly, a Peer Supporter who has their own lived experience of mental health challenges, or another service that fits your situation. Sometimes it takes a couple of tries to find the right fit — and that's completely normal.

You stay in control
Everything Comcare does is based on your strengths and what you want your life to look like. Nobody will tell you what to do. Your Support Worker or Peer Supporter works with you, not on you. You can change your mind, take a break, or try a different approach at any time.
